Saturday, March 5, 2011, at 18:30, the Modern Library , Via Garibaldi 272, at Rieti inaugurates WEFT , art exhibition Contemporary, edited by Barbara Pavan, sponsored by Studio7.it.
I n displays the work of three artists who draw, in varying degrees, the ancient art of weaving and female, have been revised techniques, products and content in their search for artistic Cati Susan, Veronica and Debellis Eliana Frontini.
The works of Susanna Cati so materially different, are all part of the route de ' The thread of the soul' . Writes the artist: 'tells a story of a young Navajo woman who does not know what to do with his life and went away. In the desert, he came upon a hole where he found the spider-woman who taught her the art of weaving, a knowledge to be passed down from woman to woman, from generation to generation. Since then, all fabrics Navajo women have a hole to remember the teaching of the mother. As the spider weaves the canvas with substances produced by himself, so you can weave through the express the structure and movement of the universe. Tie the mesh with the thread of the soul as a monad that the work embodies the essential spirit of the complexity of the materials, the understanding of the laws of optics, the elements of aesthetics and the poetry of their interpretation '.
A series of works that set out in this show by Veronica Debellis , made starting from the trousseau: towels, sheets, towels, cut, glued, sewn, re-assembled. Shreds of a life already mapped out reversing his fate, he rebels, is destroyed to reinvent itself and rise again like a phoenix. These works, that of Debellis, that tell not one but many stories, like a 'diary' with no real beginning, no ending, without any bias or prejudice. It has everything: death and rebirth, pain and joy, the tenacity, strength and fragility, the past, present and future possibilities open to all, free from pre-packaged in the memory and resources, and root but never ballast. 'Necessary clarification' - the artist writes - 'I never wanted to marry me and not pull the outfit for a man kicked my heart on the altar: the trousseau is the most useless and cumbersome memory that my mother has produced for me.
